Greggs Vegan Sausage Roll Review

hungry howe

The biggest hype this month, read on to find out what I thought of this months biggest food fad. Spoiler: I loved it!

So after having gone to 2 different Greggs shops in Nottingham and having them tell me that they had sold out. I was definitely highly anticipating trying one, because they must be good if they're selling off the shelf! Once I arrived back Leeds after the Christmas holiday, my dad and I finally found one in.

NB: My dad is a recent convert to vegetarian due to health reasons and very much misses meat.

On first glance, it looks identical to the original sausage roll, and when I bit into it it tasted exactly like it. I was shocked, I expected it to be good, but it was insane how close to meat and the original sausage roll it was; I think this is down to the seasoning, it's identical in both and so iconic it makes it taste exactly the same. The only thing I would say is different is the look of it is very obviously different, it has the look of most fake meat, which if you've eaten fake meat before you must know what I mean by saying it looks over processed and not like real meat.

But at only £1, it is well worth it. I'm so glad that my veggie and vegan friends now have something to eat at such an affordable price. I do think that the small price difference of 5p between veggie and meat is justified but that in general all the rolls sold at Greggs are getting kind of overpriced. I remember them being about 65p, I don't know if I'm making that up but that's what I remember.

Rundown:

Flakiness 10/10

Tastiness 10/10

Likeness 8/10

Price 9/10

Seasoning 10/10

Overall - 9.4/10

BTW if you were wondering what my dads opinion was. He loved it so much, he went back and bought 2 more as a snack. haha

Anyway thanks for reading,

Hungry Howe x
